Want a getaway that's a bit different from your usual beach holiday? Here, you can enjoy an ultra-sensory experience: sunny alleyways, perfume museums, violet villages and perfume gardens... all just a stone's throw from Grasse.
And to be clear from the outset: I do not offer the courses or tours myself. Here, you will find ideas for perfume itineraries in the Grasse region that you can put together yourself, booking directly with the organisers.
Your ideal base camp: a RivieraBooking apartment in the historic centre of Grasse, convenient for exploring everything.

Why Grasse is the best starting point

Grasse is the perfect combination:
You sleep in the heart of the historic centre: many things can be done on foot (walks, restaurants, shopping).
• You can easily explore the gems of the surrounding area: Tourrettes-sur-Loup and Mouans-Sartoux are nearby.
• You have the must-see attractions at your fingertips, such as the International Perfume Museum (MIP), a local landmark.

When to visit: the best times for flowers and fragrances

You can come all year round, but some seasons are particularly pleasant:

  • Late winter – early spring: a purple atmosphere in Tourrettes-sur-Loup, a village closely associated with this flower.

  • Spring: mild weather, perfect for enjoying the gardens.

  • Summer: very lively (visit in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat).

Tip: if you want your trip to run smoothly, book your visits/workshops in advance: opening hours and availability vary depending on the season. The official websites of the Museums of Grasse and the MIP Gardens provide up-to-date information.

Day-by-day itinerary (3, 4 or 5 days)

Day 1 – Grasse: narrow streets, heritage & first olfactory immersion

Objective: immerse yourself in the city without rushing. Visit the Pays de Grasse Tourist Office.

  • Morning: stroll through the historic centre (narrow streets, small squares, viewpoints).
Midday: break on a terrace (take your time).
Afternoon: first visit related to perfume (museum/exhibition space, depending on your preferences). If you want to understand the history and culture of perfume, the MIP is a must-see.
Evening: dinner in Grasse + short walk through the narrow streets.

If you arrive late, save the museum for the next day and just go for a walk and enjoy a nice restaurant.

Day 2 – Perfume "in real life": museum, workshop (or stroll) & free time

The idea: a day devoted entirely to perfume, but in a pleasant way.

  • Morning: International Perfume Museum (if not done on Day 1).

  • Afternoon: depending on your style

    • Option A – Workshop: if you want to get hands-on (often by booking through the official channels of museums/partners).

    • Option B – Strolling: shops, coffee breaks, photos, "old town" atmosphere.

  • End of the day: return to the flat to relax (shower, rest, drinks). A successful holiday is also about comfort.

Day 3 – Tourrettes-sur-Loup: the city of violets & artisans

A change of scenery: a charming hilltop village, associated with violets.

  • Morning: departure for Tourrettes-sur-Loup.

  • On site:

    • stroll through the village, galleries, artisans, pretty alleyways

    • stop by the Tourist Information Office to pick up a map/calendar (very useful, especially during the off-season)

  • Noon: lunch on site.

  • Afternoon: leisurely stroll + shopping (you often leave with a little souvenir).

If you have time: end the day at a viewpoint at sunset.

Day 4 – MIP Gardens: outdoor perfume plants

A day in the fresh air: you will see perfume plants 'in real life', in a very pleasant setting.

If you enjoy guided tours, check directly on the official websites: depending on the time of year, schedules and packages may change.

  • Afternoon: leisurely return to Grasse + free time (shopping, coffee, rest).

Day 5 – Bonus: hilltop villages or a relaxing day

If you are staying for 5 days, there are two options:

Option A – “Another village” with Saint Paul de Vence

Option B – “A quiet day in Grasse”

  • market + coffee + last museum / last walk

  • stress-free check-out from the flat (the real luxury).

Practical advice (transport, timing, bookings)

  • Pace: keep at least half a day free every 4–5 days: this is what makes the stay truly enjoyable.

  • Reservations: for museums/workshops and the MIP Gardens, check opening hours and conditions on the official websites of the Museums of Grasse and the MIP.

  • Local information: in Saint Paul de Vence, the tourist office provides maps and ideas for things to do.

Where to stay: your flat in the heart of the historic centre

To make the most of this itinerary, the easiest option is to stay in the historic centre of Grasse: you'll minimise travel time, be able to go out in the evening on foot, and maintain that "holiday fun" spirit.

And if you want to combine "perfume + sea" in the same holiday: add 2–3 nights at the apartment in Juan-les-Pins.
